Confidence trick
Yet another wedding (which I don't do, by the way), this one for friends' daughter whose photographer had let them down at the last minute so, stepping in at 4 days notice, I could do no wrong. While waiting for everyone to arrive at Lambeth Register Office in Brixton Town Hall, this staff member asked me to take her picture and I was happy to oblige. It struck me afterwards how true it is that, as I tell everyone I photograph, being photogenic has very little to do with looks and everything to do with confidence - this lady is happy in her own skin and looks out of the picture at us as much we look at her so we meet as equals and that confidence is inherently appealing. As I also tell everyone I shoot, it doesn't matter whether confidence is real or assumed for the photo, it still works.
