Drummers tend not to come at the top in rock & roll band hierarchies (except for Charlie Watts), nor do they usually fare well in live music photography; not only are they usually placed behind the other band members, they also tend to be obscured by their own kit. With this shot of the ever-charming Richard Marcangelo, playing here with Sonic Blue at a rare outdoor gig, I've tried to make a feature of how he's surrounded by, but very much at the centre of, the band.
